Tianjin compresses into two clean days: the concession city and the river on day one, the coast on day two. The rhythm matters more than the checklist — mornings belong to breakfast, golden hour to the riverfront, and the Eye to after dark. Binhai is 50 km east, so give it the whole of day two rather than trying to sandwich it in.

Start in 西北角 by 08:30: jianbing flipped to order, guoba cai and old tofu before the stalls sell out. Walk it off through the Ancient Culture Street and the Tianhou temple, then over to the Porcelain House — the facade from the street is the show, and it is free. The afternoon belongs to the Five Great Avenues: take a shared bike and drift between Minyuan Plaza and the mansions for two unhurried hours. Be in the Italian Style Town as the lights come on, walk the riverbank to the Eye, and ride it at night (¥138) or take the cruise below it (from ¥80).
Day 2
The coast: a national museum and a famous library
Train to Binhai → National Maritime Museum → Binhai Library → Tanggu seafood → back
Take the through train from Tianjin station to Binhai (about an hour), then a taxi to the National Maritime Museum — reserve in the 掌上国海博 mini-program a day or two ahead, and start with the whale-shark hall before the school groups arrive. After lunch, the Binhai Library: the book-mountain hall is as good as its photos (the upper tiers are printed panels, mind you, and it is a working library — keep it quiet). Finish with a seafood dinner in Tanggu bought by weight and steamed on the spot, then the train or Line 9 back. If it is a Monday, swap the days — both Binhai anchors will be shut.

- Both Binhai anchors close on Mondays; the maritime museum needs a reservation in the 掌上国海博 mini-program even though it is free.
- Do not squeeze Binhai into a city morning: it is 50 km and a taxi beyond the end of Line 9 — the through train to Binhai station is the sane route.
- 狗不理 is the famous-name trap every local warns about; eat where the queues are, and buy mahua in town, not at scenic-area gates.
One honest thing — Two scheduling rules decide everything here: the museums on the coast close on Mondays, and the breakfast stalls are finished by 10:00. Book the Eye's night slots a day or two ahead.
