Four days is the honest minimum for Sanya: enough for one proper beach, one island day, one cultural half-day and one rainforest excursion without rushing any of them. The city is spread along the coast, so plan around bays rather than a centre — most people base themselves in Yalong Bay, Dadonghai or Sanya Bay and taxi between sights. Everything below runs on taxis, the airport shuttle and a rented e-bike for the flat seafront stretches.

Day 1
Yalong Bay and the rainforest canopy
Sanya Phoenix Airport → Yalong Bay → Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park
Land at Sanya Phoenix International (SYX) and take the airport shuttle or a taxi to Yalong Bay, about 40 minutes north of the centre. Spend the afternoon on the sand — Yalong Bay has the finest, calmest water of the city's beaches and is built for doing nothing. Late in the day, walk the Over-River-Dragon cable bridge in the Tropical Paradise Forest Park above it for the classic turquoise-bay view, then drive the free Sun Bay Road between rainforest and glass sea as the light goes.
Day 2
Wuzhizhou Island: glass-clear water
Haitang Bay pier → Wuzhizhou Island
Take the first ferry from Haitang Bay to Wuzhizhou Island (entry plus round-trip boat about ¥133) and go straight for the water — this is Sanya's best snorkelling and diving, with coral reefs and clownfish in water clear enough to see the bottom. If diving isn't your thing, the island's Lovers' Island and Sunrise Rock are an easy walk, or skip across to Houhai Village next door, where beginners rent boards and learn to surf in the small, friendly waves.
Day 3
Sea Guanyin and the End of the Earth
Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone → Tianya Haijiao → Coconut Dream Corridor
Morning at the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone (entry about ¥129 with the shuttle): a Tang-style temple complex under the 108-metre Sea Guanyin statue that stands out in the South China Sea. Afternoon at Tianya Haijiao, the classic 'End of the Earth' landmark of granite rocks on the shore — free to enter now with a timed reservation. Finish at the Coconut Dream Corridor on Sanya Bay for the orange-sea sunset the city is known for.
Day 4
Inland rainforest and a seafood finale
Yanoda Rainforest → First Market
Head inland to the Yanoda Rainforest (entry about ¥168 with shuttle, near Baoting) for waterfall trekking and canopy walkways in proper tropical forest — bring a change of clothes if you do the water-treading route. Back in the city, end on Sanya's signature note: buy live seafood by the jin at the First Market, then take it to a cook-it-for-you restaurant next door. Hele crab, Wenchang chicken and coconut chicken hotpot are the dishes to order.
